You expect your home to be a healthy, safe haven for you and your family to enjoy. Unfortunately, mold growth is a reality that many homeowners have to face. Though mold does often show itself, it isn’t always obvious that mold is growing in your household. There are certain signs that your home may have a mold problem and that you should consider mold testing.

Does Your Home Need Mold Testing?

  1. Asthma and Allergy Flare-Ups. Normally, people with seasonal allergies feel some relief when they enter their homes. However, if people’s allergies get worse when they come inside, it could indicate mold exposure. Mold can also aggravate symptoms in people with asthma. If you or other members of your households are experiencing flare-ups inside of your home, you may want to consider mold testing.
  1. Strange Odors. Mold often has a distinct, musty smell when present in a home. These smells may grow in strength after heavy rain. If you notice a musty smell within your home that you can’t explain, it may make sense to test for mold.
  1. Peeling Wallpaper. Though wallpaper can start to warp or peel with age, if you notice sudden widespread peeling, it may be caused by moisture buildup in your walls. Moisture and humidity in homes often leads to mold, and prompt mold testing can alert you to the problem and prevent an outbreak.
